Where do you want to be?

Rooms are somewhere you have to get to at nine in the morning, so the city is the first thing that decides whether any of this works for you.

We guessed this from your connection. It is a guess.

Rooms are open in

Nowhere else yet. Standups run on a call, so those work from wherever you are, and they show up whatever you pick here.

Focus rooms

A desk was neverthe problem

You can sit in an office, on a coworking floor, or at the café with the good tables, and leave at six with the thing still not done. A focus room adds what a desk cannot: two hours you have already paid for, the same people expecting you, and one sentence at the start about what you are going to finish.

The shape

The same two hours, every time.

Ten minutes of standup, an hour of work, a break, another hour. Nothing about it changes from week to week, so there is nothing to arrange and nothing between sitting down and starting.

What people bring

Work that has been nearly finished for a month.

None of this needs a better chair. All of it needs two hours where stopping is the awkward thing to do, and somebody who will ask how it went.

What you buy

Twelve mornings, decided once.

You pay before the first one, for the whole run. Every date is listed first, because you are buying those twelve and no others. Hold them against your calendar in September and there is nothing left to decide in October.

You leave with it done
You say what you are going to finish before the two hours start, and somebody asks you about it after. That sentence is the mechanism. It is also why the room is quiet: everyone in it has one.
Eight to fourteen people, the same ones
They booked the same mornings you did. By the third week you know what everyone is working on, which is when the room starts paying for itself: the person two seats down has already solved the thing you are stuck on.
In a room, on a call, or once
Rooms in Lisbon and along the Cascais line, online rooms that run the same way, and some rooms sell a single morning. One morning costs more than a morning inside a run, because the run is the part that works.

A standup on its own is the other half of this.
